As the National Standard Definition of “Cashmere” GB 18267-2000 says, cashmere is from goat and the diameter of cashmere fiber is less than 25 micron. And the National Standard of GB 18267-2000 on definition of “Cashmere” also contains four terms, namely, “Raw Cashmere”, “Opened Cashmere”, “Scoured Cashmere” and “Dehaired Cashmere”. They are collectively referred to as “Cashmere”. The following is a short discrimination of these four terms of "Cashmere".
“Raw Cashmere”: also can be understand as raw cashmere material; it harvests from a goat with a double coat of hair and mainly refers to the down hair, that is the following layer of untreated hair fiber, with a small amount of natural impurities.
“Opened Cashmere”: It is sorting from the goat's Raw Cashmere, in addition, it also need to be wheeled from the shaker to separate the soil and other impurities.
“Scoured Cashmere”: It means pure cashmere that meets certain quality requirements both from “Raw Cashmere” and “Opened Cashmere” which are strictly washed.
“Dehaired Cashmere”: It refers to the cashmere that is treated through processes both washing and industrial carding.
