Leading the new green trend: Consinee led the development of a new carbon footprint evaluation standard for wool yarns

With the call of "carbon peak in 2030, carbon neutrality in 2060" continuing to heat up around the world and the increasing shortage of natural resources, the green low-carbon sustainable development of the textile and garment industry has been the general trend, and green and environmentally friendly sustainable raw materials for textile have become a new trend in the development of the industry. Under the grand blueprint of the national "double carbon" strategy, the quantification and management of carbon footprint has become an important indicator of the green development of enterprises.

On May 1, 2024, the landmark standard "T/CNTAC 203-2024 T/CWTA 1-2024" Product Carbon Footprint Product Category Rules Wool Yarn "led by the Consinee Group was officially implemented, marking that the Consinee Group has taken a solid step in helping China's wool textile industry in carbon footprint management. It showed the company's strong support for green, low-carbon and environmental protection development, as well as the vigorous pursuit of green development.

The standard is jointly responsible by the China Textile Association Standard Committee and the China Wool Association Standard Committee, by the China Wool Textile Industry Association, Donghua University, and a number of units jointly completed, the standard content and the international standard ISO 14067 to maintain consistency, is exclusive to the Chinese textile industry standards.

Consinee's green achievements, carbon footprint new milepost

In 2016, Consinee Group closely followed the national policy guidelines and began to carry out energy conservation and carbon reduction work by formulating various measures. In 2023, the Consinee Group handed over a bright carbon reduction report card: its main products - woolen cashmere yarn and recycled cashmere yarn. In 2023, the carbon emission of woolen cashmere yarn was 52.7476 kgCO2eq/kg, which decreased by 16.45% compared with 2016. The carbon emission of recycled cashmere yarn (before consumption) is 28.4969 kgCO2eq/kg, and the carbon emission of recycled cashmere yarn (after consumption) is 28.7309 kgCO2eq/kg. This achievement not only reflected the group's unremitting efforts in energy conservation and emission reduction, but also set a model of emission reduction for the entire textile industry. Up to now, the carbon footprint verification of the Group's woolen yarn, worsted wool yarn, fancy yarn and recycled cashmere yarn has been completed.

Four initiatives for low-carbon transition

1. Energy saving, emission reduction and cleaner production: By adopting advanced energy saving and carbon reduction technologies, Consinee realizes efficient utilization of energy and resources.

2. Circular economy system: Build a green circular chain from raw materials to products, including the development of cashmere recycling products, and promote the recycling of resources.

3. New energy exploration: layout of photovoltaic power generation projects, involvement in carbon trading, extensive use of green electricity, and further reduce carbon emissions.

4. The future factory of intelligent manufacturing: the deep integration of automation and intelligent technology not only improves production efficiency, but also ensures the green and pollution-free production process.

The leader of standardization construction

The green development of Consinee Group cannot be achieved without the vision of the top management. The chairman and president of Consinee Group, Xue Jinli, took charge personally, not only promoted the construction of standards and standardization within the company, but also actively participated in the formulation of national and even international standards. As of May 2024, the Group has participated in and presided over a total of 38 various standards. It covers national standards, industry standards, group standards and other levels, including the drafting of international standards, highlighting the group's voice and leadership in the global textile industry chain.

Green journey, continuously moving forward

Every step forward of the Consinee Group is a profound practice of the concept of green development. From the formulation of carbon footprint evaluation rules, to a series of practical actions to save energy and reduce emissions, to a series of green honors, it has proved its firm determination and significant contribution in promoting the green transformation of the industry. In the future, the Consinee Group will continue to work intensively in the field of carbon footprint management, and work with all sectors of society to draw a new green chapter of sustainable development.
